Ruaha National park is the largest park found in Tanzania, it was named after the Ruaha river which provides permanent water in the park. The park is well known for its large number of elephants and buffaloes. It’s a river that provides permanent water to the park and provides sanctuary to a large number of hippos and crocodiles which led the best views to visitors. It also contains more than 571 species of birds among the resident species are bornbills and migratory birds.

Ruaha National park is full of flora and fauna, it contains a unique and wide variety of animals such as greater and lesser Kudu, roan, and sable antelopes which are rarely seen in most other game parks. The park was formerly known for its large number of elephants and buffaloes. Location

Ruaha National Park, national park, west of Iringa town in south-central Tanzania. The park is located at an elevation of 2,500 to 5,200 feet (750 to 1,900 m) and covers an area of 5,000 square miles (12,950 square km) and was originally part of the Rungwa Game Reserve.

History of Ruaha National Park

In 2008 Usangu game reserve merged its border with Ruaha transforming it into Tanzania's largest national park. The park is about 130 kilometers (81 mi) west of Iringa. It is covered by 20,226 square kilometers. Despite the largest size of the park which contains varieties of species the park also has built a handful of camps which built Ruaha Tanzania's best reputation as the best-kept game viewing secret which will fulfill visitor expectations.
